I had one of those days where spring just showed up like it was making itself at home. Nothing dramatic—just a little more sunlight, a fresh breeze, and a shift in the air. It felt like the perfect moment to take a step back and think about what I wanted to make of this season.
So whether you’re diving into something new or just letting go of some old habits, here are 5 rules to help you make this season feel like your season.
Take a Mental Health Day
Sometimes, you need to step back before everything feels like too much. Whether it’s a quick walk to clear your head or taking a full day (or two) off, give yourself the space to rest and recharge. Not because you’ve earned it through exhaustion, but because you deserve it. Do something that feels gentle, quiet, and completely for you. Let the to-do list wait just for a little while. It’s easy to get caught up in “productivity,” but rest is just as important for your growth. So, prioritize your peace.

Don’t Let the Vitamin D Trick You
Yes, the sun is out, and those longer days are putting a spring in your step. You might feel happier, lighter, and more motivated—but don’t let that fool you. The warmth can feel like a quick fix, but it doesn’t mean everything else just disappears. Keep going to therapy. Stick to the routines that actually support your mental health. You’ve worked hard for the inner peace you have, and don’t let it slip away just because the weather’s nice. For the anxious overthinkers (myself included): remember, sunshine doesn’t mean the work is done. Keep showing up for yourself.
Flirt With Life
This season is your permission slip to get curious and playful. Try new things simply because they sound fun and exciting. Romanticize your routine a little bit. Whether it’s signing up for that Pilates class you’ve been eyeing, baking something from scratch, or spending an afternoon exploring a new part of your city. Think of life like someone you’re crushing on—explore it, tease it, and get to know it in all its quirks.
Don’t put pressure on yourself to commit to anything forever. Just allow yourself to experiment and enjoy the newness. You might discover something about yourself that you never expected.

Do A Spring Reset
A fresh space = a fresh mindset. Take one day to declutter: clear out that drawer, donate clothes you never wear, and toss that candle with no wick. Your space has a big effect on your energy, and spring is the perfect time to let go of the physical clutter weighing you down. You don’t need it all, so get rid of something and make room for something new.
Put Yourself Out There
I know making new friends as an adult is tough, but connection is everything. Try Bumble BFF, strike up a conversation with someone at a coffee shop, or join a class you've been thinking about. When I first moved to the city, I downloaded Bumble BFF without overthinking it. Those coffee dates, dinners, and eventually joining a run club became my gateway to meaningful connections in a new place. Whether it's a new friendship or even a simple interaction, putting yourself out there is how we open the door to new relationships. It's not always easy, but it's always worth it. And you never know what could come from it—sometimes the most random "friend date" turns into the person you text about everything.
